Good lord!! I just hit 10 books for the year already. No, I haven't finished them all. I just started #10 and still need to finish #6 (it's my bedtime book ;))
So, what how is your year going so far?
Josh got a letter from the lawyer hired by State Farm. He has to meet them on the 18th for a prep for the deposition on the 22nd. Fuck! Bitch is still suing him (for those that don't know, in 2007, Josh was rear-ended, then t-boned. Woman who hit him first was driving on a suspended license, and Josh was found *at fault* because he was "driving too fast for the conditions" - 30mph in a 70 during snowy conditions.). She's suing Josh for loss of wages and supposed injuries. Um, stupid bitch, if you hadn't been on the road, like you legally were supposed to be off, you wouldn't have been injured, you wouldn't have ended up in jail, and you wouldn't have lost your job. Hmm, whose real fault is all of this?
Gah! So, we have to miss hours (because they're just going to schedule him 5 days, which means we'll lose that 6th day of pay. *grumble*
Fuck off, Justice System.

9/1/10 11:00 (UTC)If she doesn't file a motion before the 2 years is up, then she can't get anything. If she files before the two years is up, then she can continue for as long as she likes. Mine filed 3 days before the 2 years were over.

9/1/10 19:30 (UTC)what pisses me off is that she put herself at risk. she legally wasn't supposed to be on the road. she was arrested for driving without a license. kansas has no special exceptions. she's suing for something that is *her* fault.

7/1/10 02:55 (UTC)Then a woman who'd gotten a house inspection sued him because she did something stupid and fell down the stairs. The house must not have been up to code. "Up to code" isn't what home inspections are for--you sign something signifying you understand that when you get one. The case was filed in the wrong state for a mangled version of the company name. It cost a bit of money for my parents just to hire a lawyer to sort things out.
Hopefully it won't be too much longer for you to get this sorted out. Ironically, I thought being the person doing the rear-ending is 99% the at-fault person, anyway. I can't even see what kind of argument doesn't end in the person to the rear being proven to be a) following too close and/or b) going too fast.

7/1/10 03:04 (UTC)Thankfully, the guy that t-boned him (who totally went "driving too fast, couldn't stop in time", and barely left a dent in the door) is testifying on Josh's behalf, since he was behind and saw it all.
The cop that took the report didn't do anything but direct traffic *through* the accident scene. Did not take any real notes, or draw any sort of map on how the vehicles ended up.

7/1/10 03:47 (UTC)Hmm...did Josh ever think of suing her? She was doing something illegal!

7/1/10 03:58 (UTC)And I do blame the justice system, because like in your mom's case, those who scam the system get away with it, and it's partially because of how the justice system works.
